DEVELOPMENT POLICIES

The Aprodev members share the ecumenical understanding of development as a multifaceted and holistic concept, which is basically about improving the quality of life through promoting justice, participation and sustainability. In their work with and alongside the poor, the Aprodev agencies seek to underline the equal value of all human beings, irrespective of race, colour, sex, creed, national, ethnic or political affiliation.
A major objective of Aprodev is to influence decision-making processes in the European Union institutions related to North-South issues in order to promote fairness and justice and the eradication of poverty.

In all of its work, Aprodev seeks to incorporate the following principles:

• A rights-based approach.
• Advocacy which is rooted in the experiences and perspectives of the partners of the Aprodev agencies.
• A commitment to gender equity and equality.
• A focus on issues and areas in which Aprodev and its associated agencies can add value and where they can realistically make a difference:

  • EC funding instruments
  • Cotonou agreement and the European Development fund
  • Security and Development
