GENDER AND TRADE
To understand the impact of trade liberalisation on human development and its differing impact on women and men, we need to understand the different roles played by women and men in economic activities. Human development requires equitable sustainable economic growth, and women’s and men’s human rights need to be put at the forefront.

The report of the workshop organised jointly by Aprodev and Aid Transparency in October 2003 in Dakar looks at different issues in EPA negotiations such as reciprocity, market access, fiscal revenues, development issues with a focus on the regional negotiations in ECOWAS and partly SADC. Under each heading, the key issues and the gender dimension are identified.
